THE VERY BEST OF EXAMPLE (2003-2009)

Now I'm a slightly proud guy (in a good way) but I'd never ever think about doing a "Best Of Example" type giveaway on here as that's not my vibe. I personally don't think I've done enough high quality stuff in the last 7 years to rival the output of say, a Dizzee or a Kanye.

Anyway, I have a pal called Thomas Coxhead who I met about 5 years ago at one of my gigs. He's basically a fan who became a friend. Mainly because we share an almost identical taste in music but also because he's a true gent.

This is me and Thomas after a sweaty gig in Manchester:


For the last week he's been doing a series of "Very Best Ofs" and has so far covered Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest and UK Rappers Ty and Mystro. Well today he's decided to cover me.

The zip file of tunage he's put together covers the years 2003-2009 starting from my early demo's whilst I was still at University (hence the low quality), my first ever release on vinyl in 2004 'A Pointless Song' and then there's the picks of the bunch from my first two mixtapes and debut album 'What We Made' (2007) in there too.

This really is a must have for any new fan and an education into the 6 years of disjointed music and hard graft before my music evolved and I gained commercial and chart success with 'Won't Go Quietly' and 'Kickstarts' in 2010

R.I.P Charlie Haddon

This blog is usually full of all things cool, weird and wonderful so this post will be a first for me...

I was shocked to find out earlier today that Charlie Haddon, lead singer of Où Est Le Swimming Pool took his own life on August 20th whilst the band were at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium.

Nothing is known about the circumstances but the news has been confirmed by both the band and festival organisers.

Où Est Le Swimming Pool are one of the most fun and talented Electronic Pop bands in the UK. They have consistently put out top quality SynthPop, are awesome live and it was a pleasure to share the bill with them on so many gigs this summer and on my UK Tour. I shared some fun nights on tour with Charlie and I'm completely gobsmacked

Thoughts go out to Charlie’s family, friends and the rest of the band.
